The SOWETO BEACH PARTY goes WEST!
Soweto has been hosting the Beach Party event for the past 5 (five) years. This year Mogale City will see the event evolve into the Gauteng Beach Party.

The idea is to capture the imagination of all by creating an event which is unique, by presenting the expected, in an unexpected manner; in this case a beach, being the expected and Mogale City, being the unexpected.

Gauteng Beach Party is brought to you by Bevcan, in association with Vodacom, Tropika and Mogale City.

So, get out your best summer get up because it’s time for a bit of beach bling - Soweto style - with the return of the ever-popular, hugely fashionable, dare-to-miss-it Gauteng Beach Party.

That’s right; the beach is going down west this September when Mogale City’s Coronation Park Dam in Krugersdorp (opposite the Kaizer Chiefs new home) plays host to the biggest beach party this side of Durbs.

The 6th annual Gauteng Beach Party, popularly known as the Soweto Beach Party, will this year take place on Saturday, 27 September (it is the same event, only BIGGER, BETTER and STRICTER).

The Coronation Park Dam will be transformed into an urban beach with 400 tons of soft, shiny beach sand. Expect sexy beach Babes, smoooth Cocktails, graceful Outfits, Volley ball games, 4-A-Side Soccer match, Miss Tropika Beauty Pageant, spectacular Fireworks, a 'hot' Artist and DJ line-up, sumptuous shisa-nyama’s and the Who’s Who of mzansi, will complete this seaside celebration.

So what’s on the menu for this, the biggest Beach Party yet? Well, on Saturday, 27 September things are going to be hot and wild with the best in local jams: Oskido, DJ Sbu, DJ Fresh, DJ Vetkuk vs Mahoota, Brickz, Thebe, Ntando, Jaziel Brothers, DJ Tira (Durban’s Finest), Big –Nuz, Tbo Touch, PRO Kid, Brown Dash, DJ C-Live, DJ Linda, DJ Mayibuye, Katz, Lungelo and Tina.

Gauteng Beach Party also boasts the Tropika Island Babes Beauty Pageant/Miss Tropika (Gauteng Regional Finals), a Volley Ball game and a 4-A-Side Soccer for fun and games.

All this while the fabulous MC Fats, fans the flames in between!

In previous years the huge popularity of the event has resulted in traffic congestion and the stretching of resources of both city authorities and event organisers which resulted in security measures being compromised.

2008 Security measures are as follows, but will not be limited to:

  • 287x CIRA accredited officials (private security) supplied by African Show Services, SSG Security Services, Goodwill Protection Services, Khululekani Security Services and Seriti Security Services.

  • South African Police Services is providing 90x Uniformed, 40x Undercover and 10x on Stand-by at local Police Station.

  • Public Safety (Mogale City’s METRO) 20x officers and Community Traffic Officials.

  • Crime Intelligence is providing 15x officers

The Beach Party is the real big deal, the best beach blast and the biggest party for the year in anyone’s calendar. It was decided to focus on a bigger venue, provide a better event, stricter event and we are confident to deliver a showcase event; A Beach Party to beat Beach Parties.  Remember it’s going be wild, it’s going to be fun, it’s going to be the party of the year, says GG Alcock (Minanawe Marketing, MD)

“This year’s event promises to be bigger and better. True to this year’s theme, we expect everyone, and we mean everyone, to be tropical. Eissh it’s going to sizzle with Mzansi’s hottest! The most tropical will win a Mzekezeke hampers.

Billy Chaka, Minanawe Marketing director says the line-up is a major draw card for music lovers. “As the norm, the most tropical and exotic outfits will grace the Gauteng Beach Party. With the majority of the artists and dj’s boasting hit albums, the crowds will be eating out of the palm of their hands!”
